Cellulite Exam: Grade Yourself

The most common cellulite grading system is referred to as the Nurenberg Grading System. This is named after the German physician who invented it in 1972.

Once the examination is complete, you will want to grade yourself. There are four grades of cellulite ranging from grade 0-3. Dr. Bissoon usually refers to grade 3 cellulite as terminal cellulite. No, no one has ever died of cellulite. By terminal, he is referring to the difficulty and prolonged time it requires to treat someone with grade 3 cellulite.

Use the grading system below to determine the severity of your cellulite:

GRADE 0: There is no visible cellulite with standing. With pinching the skin, there is no appearance of cellulite. This grade of cellulite is rare and very desirable, however difficult to attain, but not impossible.

GRADE 1: There is no cellulite when standing, however, when you pinch the skin on the thighs, you will see the appearance of orange peel or mattress appearance of the skin. This is also a desirable grade.

GRADE 2: There is visible cellulite while standing, but it is not visible when lying.

GRADE 3: There is visible cellulite while standing and laying down. This grade is extremely rare and difficult to treat.

Once you are finished with your examination and grading, you will want to check for what Dr. Bissoon refers as Celebrity Cellulite or Functional Cellulite.
